I’ve had a traumatic experience in my life and so have you. It’s part of the human experience to go through hard things that the brain, heart and body have trouble healing from. We have all had the experience of talking something to death to try to get over it, but somehow, it persists. For instance, I can share that I’m really jumpy in a car because of the life threatening car accident I had at 14. I can also say that I know that I am not in immediate danger when I am in the car, but once I get in the car and something minor happens that reminds me of that day as a teenger in 1996, I am a nervous wreck. Why is this? This accident was 31 years ago, I’ve done years of therapy since, and I still feel like I am right back in that seat when I get in a car. That is until recently…. when I did EMDR therapy. As a EMDR facilitator and participant, I am still amazed at the powers of EMDR. Let me explain…
